Hey there, Hypno-Healers!
Welcome back to another edition of your go-to guide for all things trauma-focused hypnotherapy!
Today, we’re diving into the fourth stage of hypnosis: Therapeutic Work. This is where the magic happens—the stage where your client’s subconscious mind is most open to the profound healing they need.

Anchors: The Tools of Transformation
Let’s start with anchors. Think of anchors as little emotional bookmarks. They allow your clients to access positive states of mind, even when they’re back in the chaos of daily life.
Here’s a pro tip:
when establishing an anchor, make it multisensory. Combine a touch with a phrase, and, if possible, a scent or a visual cue. The more senses you engage, the stronger the anchor.
Practical Tip:
Next time you’re in a session, have your client imagine a place where they feel utterly safe. As they sink into that feeling, touch their wrist gently and say, “Peace is always within reach.” This creates a powerful anchor that they can use whenever they need to find calm.

Post-Hypnotic Suggestions: Planting Seeds for Future Growth
Post-hypnotic suggestions are your opportunity to plant seeds that will continue to grow long after the session ends. These are instructions or thoughts that will trigger specific responses in your clients when they encounter certain situations or emotions.
Advance Skill:
The key to effective post-hypnotic suggestions is clarity. Keep it simple and direct. And remember—timing is everything. Drop these suggestions right after a particularly deep or emotional moment in the session, when the subconscious is most receptive.
Practical Tip:
For clients struggling with anxiety, you might say, “Whenever you see the color blue, you’ll take a deep breath, and feel your shoulders relax.” This simple suggestion can become a powerful tool in their daily life.

Profound Suggestions: The Deep Shift
Now, let’s talk about profound suggestions—these are the heart of the therapeutic work. This is where you guide your clients toward deep, lasting change. These suggestions should align with the goals you and your client have discussed, and they should resonate on a deep, emotional level.
Advance Skill:
Make your suggestions personal and emotional. The more your suggestion speaks to the core of your client’s experiences, the more profound the impact will be. Use metaphors and imagery that are meaningful to them.
Practical Tip:
If you’re working with someone who feels stuck in life, you might say, “You are like a river, flowing effortlessly around obstacles, finding your way to the vast ocean of possibilities.” This imagery not only provides comfort but also encourages movement and growth.
